Sustainability at Black Urchin
At Black Urchin, we believe true luxury includes a deep respect for the environment, the community, and the cultural heritage of the Cayman Islands. Our sustainability efforts reflect our commitment to preserving the beauty of this island paradise—today and for generations to come.
Respecting Nature
We’ve taken intentional steps to reduce our environmental impact, including implementing energy-efficient appliances and LED lighting, and offering filtered water in all of our units for guest use. Our daily housekeeping program uses eco-friendly cleaning products, and we encourage towel and linen reuse to help conserve water.
Protecting What Makes Cayman Unique
We proudly support local marine conservation initiatives care deeply about protecting our coral reefs, sea turtles, and other vital ecosystems. Our beachfront is kept natural and minimally developed to support healthy shoreline biodiversity, and we provide snorkeling gear so guests can enjoy the underwater world responsibly.
Investing in Our Community
We actively support the Cayman economy by partnering with small businesses and employing local staff. Through our sister company, Luxury Cayman Villas, we also feature other women-led, family-owned properties and prioritize collaborations that uplift the local community—from sourcing produce from local farmers to supporting educational and wellness initiatives.
We know sustainability is a journey, and we’re committed to improving every year—because luxury should never come at the expense of what matters most.
